Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev met Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) Director-General Qu Dongyu in Tashkent on 6 October. An official account published by Uzbekistan's embassy in Pakistan said a new five-year partnership programme had been adopted and 27 joint projects were being implemented.
The discussion focused on agricultural digitalization and artificial intelligence, climate finance, knowledge exchange and training specialists. Uzbekistan was also elected to the FAO Council for the 2028–2029 term for the first time, the statement said. After the meeting, Qu presented Mirziyoyev with FAO's Agricola Medal, citing his initiatives and achievements in food security and agricultural and water development.
