The U.S. Department of Agriculture announced interest rates effective October 1 for Farm Service Agency loans to agricultural producers. Direct operating loans are set at 5.375%; direct farm-ownership loans range from 2.25% for down payments to 6.25% for standard loans.

For storage facilities, the agency listed rates from 4.5% on three-year loans to 5% on 12-year loans. The rates apply to the named FSA products for October; commercial lenders set their own rates for guaranteed loans, so the announcement does not describe all farm credit pricing.
