Gross withdrawals, the total volume extracted at the wellhead, reached a monthly record of 137 billion cubic feet per day in July. EIA said it was the first new monthly gross-withdrawals record of 2026.

Withdrawals in Texas and New Mexico rose by a combined 1.7 billion cubic feet per day, or 3.2%, from June to July. EIA attributed the increase primarily to new wells coming online in the Permian Basin.

Gross withdrawals measure the full well stream. Marketed production and dry production use different definitions; EIA also reported July records for those measures but they should not be conflated.
