UNHCR assisted 838 Afghan returnees in one week

Between 27 September and 3 October, 779 assisted returnees came from Pakistan, 54 from Iran and five from Tajikistan.

A weekly chart from the UN Refugee Agency recorded 838 assisted returns to Afghanistan from 27 September to 3 October. Of these, 779 people came from Pakistan, 54 from Iran and five from Tajikistan.

UNHCR said 48% of those assisted that week were under 18 and 39% of returnee households were female-headed. The agency recorded assisting 430,929 returnees since the start of 2026. These figures cover UNHCR-assisted returns, not everyone who returned to the country.
