According to UNFCCC’s 29 September article, Tanzania submitted its ten-year National Adaptation Plan, covering the mainland and Zanzibar, to the secretariat in January 2026. The plan includes 36 programmes across 18 sectors; ministries are preparing more detailed vulnerability assessments for coastal and marine areas, health and water.

Implementation costs are estimated at US$37 billion. UNFCCC reported that weather-related risks cause at least US$200 million in annual crop losses in agriculture. These figures comprise the plan’s cost estimate and the agency’s reported annual-loss estimate; the full funding has not been secured.
