UK Export Finance plans to increase the amount participating lenders can provide automatically under its General Export Facility from £10 million to £15 million, the government announced on 28 October. Eligibility will also widen to include more businesses seeking to expand exports.
The higher delegated limit removes the need for transaction-specific UKEF approval within that threshold once the changes are introduced. It is intended to speed access to working capital, particularly for smaller firms. The announcement does not make every applicant eligible or guarantee that a loan will be granted.
UKEF’s Ukraine cover limit will separately rise by £3 billion, from £3.5 billion to £6.5 billion. That increases capacity to consider defence, energy and reconstruction projects involving British suppliers. A cover limit measures available support capacity; it is distinct from money already disbursed or contracts already awarded.
