Agricultural output in the United Kingdom in 2025 contained estimated energy equal to 101% of the population’s calorie requirement, according to a statistic published by the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs on October 15. Estimated protein supply was 193% of requirements, carbohydrates 116% and fibre 104%.

Defra says the new statistic measures nutrients in farm output before food processing and does not account for food waste, so it is not a measure of food security or access to recommended diets. Energy supply averaged 105% of requirements over the latest five years and 112% over ten years; the 2010–2025 series reached a low of 94% in 2020.
