Tenova to supply electric arc furnace for Nippon Steel’s Yawata works

Tenova announced on September 29 that Nippon Steel selected it to supply a Consteel electric arc furnace for Yawata in Japan. GE Vernova will provide the Direct Feed power system.

The planned furnace has a heat size of 340 tonnes. It supports a shift from blast-furnace to electric-arc steelmaking. This is an equipment supply announcement rather than confirmation that the facility is complete or emissions reductions have been achieved.
