IllustrationThe Chung-Hua Institution for Economic Research reported that Taiwan's manufacturing PMI increased 0.9 percentage point to 63.4 in September 2026. The institute said the reading marked the fastest expansion since August 2021 and the index had remained in expansion for 12 consecutive months.
The PMI is a seasonally adjusted diffusion index based on survey responses from manufacturing companies; readings above 50 indicate expansion. CIER conducts the survey under commission from the National Development Council with support from the Chinese Association of Purchasing and Supply Management. This is a survey signal, not a measured percentage increase in factory output.
