Taiwan’s Water Resources Agency said the Laonong River (Liling) subsurface-flow project held its completion ceremony on October 17. The project cost NT$2.354 billion and includes intake facilities designed for 100,000 tonnes a day, as well as a water-pipe bridge about 945 metres long.
The agency said the new source will contribute to stable supplies in southern Taiwan. It reported that the Gaoping River system’s subsurface-water capacity is projected to reach 900,000 tonnes a day in 2026, 550,000 tonnes above the 2017 level; these are system-wide figures, not the output of this project alone.
