The World Food Programme said an airstrike struck two clearly marked trucks contracted to carry food assistance from Dilling to Kadugli in Sudan’s South Kordofan state on the morning of October 3. One driver was killed. The agency said the convoy had been travelling on a known route and was carrying food assistance.

WFP said it was seeking an impartial investigation and that the full extent of damage to the trucks and cargo was still being determined. It did not identify who carried out the strike. The agency called for protection of humanitarian personnel and supplies under international humanitarian law.
