Singapore’s Maritime and Port Authority said Maersk, Golden Island and PSA completed the country’s first ethanol bunkering operation at Pasir Panjang Terminal on October 17. About 5,000 metric tonnes of ISCC-certified bioethanol were transferred from the tanker Golden Centaurus to the dual-fuel container vessel Maersk Halifax.

A mass flow meter was used while container operations continued. MPA said the findings would inform an assessment of adapting methanol bunkering reference TR 129 and existing metering systems for ethanol. The authority described it as the largest single ethanol bunker to date; the release did not announce the entry into force of a permanent ethanol standard.
