The Moyamba visits highlighted hybrid maize grown by women-led SLENC, irrigated multiplication of improved rice seed at SMART Farms, and rice cultivation by the armed forces. SLENC said it had expanded from a five-acre pilot to 120 hectares of mechanised maize and employs more than 200 young people.

The military expects rice grown across 4,227 hectares at Yoni to yield about 59,900 bags of clean rice. An offtake agreement with the Ministry of Finance is intended to supply the Armed Forces’ food needs for six months. The figures are estimates and institutional statements in the official report, not confirmed final harvest totals.
