The survey, published on 1 October, covered responses from 7 to 20 September. The share reporting an increase in prices for goods or services sold in August was 8.0%. Energy concerns and changes in buying and selling prices are separate measures: one is about sentiment, while the others concern reported price changes.

The weighted estimates cover businesses with at least 10 employees, a presence or local unit in Scotland, and that had not permanently stopped trading. They exclude microbusinesses with fewer than 10 employees, the public sector, agriculture, electricity and gas supply, and finance. The percentages are shares of businesses, not inflation rates.
