Latham & Watkins said on October 1 that it advised Saudi Railway Company (SAR) on a CHF254 million export-credit facility. The facility is backed by Swiss Export Risk Insurance and a group of banks including KfW IPEX-Bank, Commerzbank and UBS Switzerland.

Latham said the financing will fund 10 new passenger trains from Swiss manufacturer Stadler. SAR described the purchase as part of its plans to expand and develop its passenger fleet. This financing concerns the initial 10-train purchase; it is separate from SAR’s later exercise of an option for 10 additional trains, announced on October 9.
