Pakistan’s Ministry of Housing and Works, with UN-Habitat Pakistan, unveiled the National Housing Policy 2025 draft on 5 October. The ministry described it as the first national policy update in nearly 25 years; the launch in Islamabad coincided with World Habitat Day.

The draft sets objectives to expand affordable housing supply, strengthen land-tenure security, widen access to housing finance and upgrade informal settlements. Officials also cited an estimated housing deficit of about 13 million units; that figure was presented at the event.
