Omineca Mining and Metals said on October 13 that D&L Mining Corp. filed a voluntary assignment in bankruptcy in Canada on October 9. D&L had been the joint-venture partner and mining contractor at the Wingdam underground paleoplacer gold-recovery project. MNP Ltd. was appointed Licensed Insolvency Trustee, subject to confirmation at the first creditors’ meeting.

Omineca said it operates the Wingdam joint venture and holds a right of first refusal over a proposed transfer of D&L’s interest. It said several parties had expressed interest and that it was reviewing its rights with counsel. The process may provide a route to resuming operations, according to the company; no transfer, restart or completed transaction was announced.
