OECD unemployment rate falls to 4.9% in July

The unemployed total falls to a one-year low of 34.7 million.

The OECD reported a July 2026 unemployment rate of 4.9% in its 10 September release, down from 5.0% in June. The number of unemployed people fell to 34.7 million.

Unemployment among people aged 15–24 was 11.0%, while the rate for those aged 25 and over remained around 4.2%. The regional aggregate does not imply identical rates in every member country.
