Transocean said on 9 October that A/S Norske Shell had awarded its Transocean Norge rig a two-well contract. The company estimated 120 days of work, expected to start directly after the rig’s existing Norway programmes, and approximately US$62 million in firm backlog.

The same release said Equinor gave final approval in late September to a previously announced agreement covering three semisubmersible rigs. The approximately US$1.0 billion contract value was then included in firm backlog; that approval was not a new award on 9 October.
