Norway’s official reserve assets stood at NOK854.693 billion at the end of September, according to final figures in Statistics Norway’s 21 October update, published on behalf of Norges Bank. The final total was above August’s NOK847.308 billion but below the preliminary September figure of NOK856.582 billion covered in Newsverum’s earlier report. The reference period is September; the final-data update was released in October.

Using the amounts reported in millions of Norwegian kroner, Newsverum calculates an increase of NOK7.385 billion, or 0.87%, between August and the final September figure. The final total is NOK1.889 billion, or 0.22%, below the preliminary September total. These percentages are calculations from the published levels, rounded to two decimal places; they are not additional growth rates quoted by Statistics Norway.

The final September total comprises NOK694.761 billion in foreign-currency reserves, NOK12.757 billion in the IMF reserve position, NOK72.008 billion in special drawing rights and NOK75.167 billion in other reserve assets. Those four components sum to the official reserve total. The source lists a further NOK12.596 billion in other foreign-currency assets separately; that amount is outside the official reserve total used here.

Statistics Norway describes the figures as monthly reserve assets at market value and defines international reserves as liquid foreign claims controlled by the monetary authorities. The comparison therefore concerns an asset stock, rather than banks’ domestic settlement balances or a separately reported transaction flow. It does not assess reserve adequacy. The accompanying data retain the source’s NOK-million amounts and identify the preliminary comparison explicitly. No currency conversion, inflation adjustment or forecast is applied, and the earlier preliminary report remains a record of the figures available at that time. Two monthly observations do not establish a longer-term trend.

Final minus comparison gives the difference; difference divided by comparison times 100 gives the percentage. Python Decimal arithmetic rounds percentages to two decimal places using ROUND_HALF_UP. Source amounts retain published precision. The second row compares two releases for the same month, not two monthly outcomes.
