Norway’s Ministry of Agriculture and Food said on 9 October that the country’s potato harvest is forecast to be 20% higher than in 2025. The 2026 crop is also projected to be 14% above the average for 2002–2025. The ministry attributed the expected increase to better growing conditions and a larger area planted with potatoes.
The Norwegian Potato Producers’ Cooperation Council (GPS) prepared the yield and quality forecast; the Norwegian Agricultural Extension Service (NLR) took samples nationwide, and HOFF compiled the results. The ministry said output in eastern Norway is expected to be roughly level with last year, while Trøndelag is forecast to have a better crop than in 2025. A final assessment of market balance will follow the 1 November stock count, so the figures remain a forecast rather than a confirmed national harvest total.
