The Norwegian Competition Authority told the parties on 9 October that it would examine Eviny’s planned acquisition of public charging operator Mer in greater depth. The authority will assess how the transaction could affect competition in publicly accessible charging infrastructure, which it describes as important to many Norwegian drivers and the transition to zero-emission vehicles; it has not yet reached a final decision.

The authority said it had obtained information from Eviny, Mer and other market participants. It received notification of the transaction on 6 September; the 9 October notice followed the statutory 25-working-day initial review stage. The regulator said it would now conduct a fuller assessment before deciding whether there are grounds to intervene.
