NiobiumX Mining outlined its priority exploration target at the Shipshaw niobium property in Quebec on 20 October. The company says the second of two magnetic lows identified in 2010 lies largely beneath Shipshaw, but has not yet been verified.
According to the company, historical drilling tested the anomaly’s rims in 23 holes totalling about 5,850 metres, with carbonatite intersected in each hole; the centre itself remains undrilled. High-resolution airborne magnetic and radiometric surveys, 3D magnetic inversion and historical core review are planned to define the target. The release states that Shipshaw has no mineral resource estimate; the anomaly is not a discovery or resource.
