Nigeria’s Raw Materials Research and Development Council (RMRDC) and the Nigerian Geological Survey Agency (NGSA) agreed to establish a joint committee to strengthen cooperation on raw-material value addition and industrialisation. An RMRDC report published on 17 October said the understanding emerged from a visit by RMRDC Director-General Nnanyelugo Ike-Muonso to NGSA Director-General O. O. Ige.
The committee, made up of staff from both agencies, is to identify priority areas and prepare a joint document outlining programmes and projects for implementation. The agencies also said they want to improve access to reliable geological and raw-material data; the report did not say that specific projects had begun or that production results had been achieved.
