The Niger Basin Authority (NBA) said physical implementation of the PIDACC/NB programme across the Niger Basin had reached nearly 50% by the end of June 2026, up from 37% a year earlier. The figures were reported at the conclusion of regional meetings held in Abuja from September 28 to October 9 with representatives of the Authority’s nine member countries.

The NBA also reported that the programme’s commitment rate rose from 49% to nearly 60% over the same period. These are regional programme figures covering the nine-country basin, not statistics for Nigeria alone. The Authority urged member countries to speed up outstanding infrastructure work and sign a Common Basket Fund framework agreement by November 15.
