newcleo said on October 14 that it had opened FASTER, a fuel engineering, testing and training center in Chusclan, France. The company said it invested about €10 million and that seven test facilities were operating at the site. They cover manufacturing stages such as powder dosing, pellet pressing, fuel-pin assembly and quality inspection.

FASTER is a non-nuclear environment for testing prototypes and manufacturing processes. It is separate from future MOX fuel plants: the proposed factory in Aube remains in development and licensing, with a construction-license application planned.
