Mexico’s National Institute of Statistics and Geography (INEGI) said its seasonally adjusted mining and metallurgical production volume index fell 0.1% month on month and 10.5% year on year in August 2026. The bulletin was released on 21 October. The indicator covers extraction, beneficiation, smelting and refining of metallic and non-metallic minerals.

The bulletin defines the index as a measure of physical production volume and says the time series use econometric methods. INEGI reported the overall production movement; this account does not conflate differing mineral-level movements with the aggregate index.
