The Maryland Department of Agriculture extended several deadlines in its fall cover-crop grant program on October 9, citing recent weather that affected planting operations. The October 10, 2026 cutoff was moved to October 15 for aerial seeding, incorporated-seeding incentives, and oats and mixes containing legumes or brassicas.

The extensions are intended to help participating farmers plant crops, meet grant requirements and protect local water quality. Maryland’s traditional Cover Crop Program is administered by the department’s Conservation Grants Program and 23 soil conservation districts. The announcement changes deadlines in an existing program; it does not announce new funding.
