The 2026–27 school year began in Diamou with a staffing shortage at several schools, AMAP reported on 1 October. At Théodore Diawara school, more than 700 pupils across grades one to six had three teachers available. At the second cycle, 280 pupils were taught by a very limited staff; the school director handled subjects including mathematics and physics-chemistry.

A visit led by the circle prefect also included the Yaya Sissoko school group and Kakoulou, in Logo commune. School representatives said the teacher shortage had persisted from the previous year, when trainee teachers were assigned as temporary support. The school management committee said some pupils from surrounding villages cross a river and walk as far as seven kilometres.

Parents proposed a school canteen to improve learning conditions. The prefect declared the school year effective across the circle, but AMAP’s report did not describe a new teacher allocation or a funded response to the staffing and access problems.
