The Madrid regional government said its DEPRECAM programme detected 1,928 suspected malignancy cases in 2025, equal to 1.68% of the women screened. The programme offers biennial mammograms to healthy, asymptomatic women aged 50 to 69.

The regional health minister visited the breast unit at Hospital Universitario 12 de Octubre on 17 October. The government said it is working to extend the programme’s age range from 45 to 74; the statement describes this as work in progress, not an implemented expansion. The administration said up to 30% of users arranged their own appointments.
