LIS Technologies said the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission approved its Standard Practice Procedures Plan for the Test Demonstration Facility in Oak Ridge, Tennessee. The plan describes security procedures and controls for a closed area intended to safeguard classified material associated with the company’s CRISLA-4G laser-enrichment process.
The company said the NRC found the submitted plan consistent with specified federal security requirements. LIS said the plan takes full effect after a successful NRC operational-readiness review; the next step it identified is seeking a facility security clearance. The approval is a security-procedure milestone, not approval to build or operate a full-capacity commercial uranium-enrichment facility.
