Kodiak starts expanded metallurgical testing across MPD deposits in B.C.

The program will test four composites representing all seven deposits at the company’s copper-gold project; results are expected in early 2027.

Kodiak Copper said on October 22 it had begun an additional metallurgical testwork program for its 100%-owned MPD copper-gold porphyry project in southern British Columbia. The work is intended to develop and optimize a processing flowsheet and build on tests completed earlier in 2026. MPD’s resource estimate covers seven deposits: Gate, Ketchan, Man, Dillard, West, Adit and South.

The company selected four composite samples to represent those deposits and their spatial, grade, lithological and mineralization variability. The Southern Area composite combines South, West and Adit; the Northern Area combines Man and Dillard; Ketchan and Gate each have a separate composite. These are grouped test samples, not four newly defined deposits or a new resource classification.

Planned work spans mineralogy and comminution, gravity testing for gold, optimization of rougher and cleaner flotation, locked-cycle tests and assessment of concentrate quality. In plain terms, the program examines ore characteristics and how a sequence of grinding and separation steps may recover metals into a concentrate. Kodiak said the work would focus particularly on gold recovery and would also provide information on rock properties and hardness.

Fuse Advisors, part of SLR, was engaged to design and manage the work, with technical guidance from Kodiak adviser Mike Westendorf. Laboratory tests are to be conducted by Blue Coast Research in Parksville, British Columbia. The release identifies Fuse metallurgist Renee Goold, a professional engineer and independent qualified person under NI 43-101, as supervising the laboratory program; she reviewed and approved the metallurgical information.

The issuer places MPD in the Quesnel Terrane of south-central British Columbia, which it describes as an established mining region with producing mines and infrastructure. The release frames laboratory work as one part of continued project evaluation, alongside exploration, rather than as a development decision.

Kodiak separately referred to ongoing exploration and a resource update planned for early 2027. That estimate would be a distinct technical milestone from this laboratory program: the tests are aimed at processing characteristics, while a resource update would report the company’s geological estimate. Both timelines remain plans in the announcement.

Results from the metallurgical program were expected in the first quarter of 2027. The company said the work is intended to inform future economic studies and strengthen the technical basis for continued project evaluation. The published release does not give numerical recovery targets or forecast how the program will affect a future study; the tests are designed to generate that processing information.
