Jordan’s Land Transport Regulatory Commission announced 2026 licensing criteria for areas without regular transit, where service costs are high relative to revenue, or where earlier calls for operators drew no response. From the following week, applicants could specify routes, fleet sizes and vehicle types.

Approved operators will have three months to meet technical specifications before receiving renewable one-year permits. If several seek the same route, the commission will compare their technical proposals. A support fund may subsidize fares or operating losses on low-profit routes; the announcement does not say that new services have begun.
