The companies will develop production, testing and packaging processes for optical chiplets and establish and evaluate a pilot production line. NTT will advise the project.

The announcement sets a goal of more than tenfold manufacturing productivity compared with current research-stage processes. That is a project target, not a reported commercial output or measured yield gain.
