DOCOMO will manage batteries through its energy-management platform, while NTT controls communications workloads in a virtual radio-access-network environment. The companies will assess how telecom and power equipment can be coordinated.

The trial is planned to run through 31 December 2026. The announcement reports no measured energy savings or proven increase in service duration during outages; those are outcomes the demonstration will evaluate.
