Italy’s industrial output fell 1.3% in August as energy production rose
Istat reported a 1.3% monthly fall in seasonally adjusted industrial output in August, while energy output increased 2.8%.

In an estimate published on 9 October, Istat said Italy’s seasonally adjusted industrial production fell 1.3% in August 2026 from July. Output over June–August was 1.1% lower than in the preceding three-month period.
Energy was the only major industrial grouping to increase month on month, rising 2.8%. Calendar-adjusted output was unchanged from a year earlier, while energy production rose 11.5% year on year. Electricity, gas, steam and air-conditioning supply increased 14.5% annually; computer and electronic-optical products manufacturing fell 9.9%.
