On October 9, Irving Oil announced that it had entered into a definitive agreement to sell its Quebec retail assets and its locations in Pembroke and Cornwall, Ontario, to Alimentation Couche-Tard. Irving Oil said the Quebec and Ontario network comprises 50 retail sites already operated by Couche-Tard under an existing agreement, plus two sites in Pembroke and Cornwall. The arrangement also covers fuel supply to 71 retail sites owned by Couche-Tard in Quebec.

Irving Oil’s fleet customers will continue to be served at the locations under a long-term agreement. The transaction remains subject to customary closing conditions and regulatory approvals. The companies did not disclose a financial value; the announcement does not say that Irving Oil’s refinery or its entire business is being sold.
