India Power Secretary Pankaj Agarwal and Saudi Assistant Minister of Energy for Electricity Affairs Nasser Al-Qahtani held a virtual bilateral meeting to review the proposed India–Saudi Arabia electrical interconnection, according to a Ministry of Power release published on October 19. The officials discussed progress and continued engagement on the initiative.

The release says the Saudi side expressed interest in cooperation on extra-high-voltage transmission, technical challenges from greater renewable penetration, planning for rising electricity needs from data centres, and updates to grid codes. It gives no proposed interconnector capacity, cost, construction timetable or final agreement.
