Western Naval Command chief Sanjay Vatsayan inaugurated the facilities under Project Seabird Phase IIA on 15 October; the Press Information Bureau reported the event on 17 October. The housing includes 300 units for naval civilian staff and the Station Health Organisation.

The release says the project expands existing INHS Patanjali to a capacity of 409 beds. It also lists a 200,000-litre reservoir, sewage treatment plant, solid-waste management facility and an access bridge for four-lane traffic with pedestrian and cycling paths. Phase IIA as a whole includes plans for a naval air station, dockyard and ship and aircraft logistics facilities.
