India’s Department of Pension and Pensioners’ Welfare announced on 30 October that its fifth nationwide Digital Life Certificate campaign will run from 1 to 30 November 2026. The campaign will involve pension-disbursing banks, post offices, pensioner welfare groups and government agencies, with technical support from the electronics ministry and the national identity authority. The department said face authentication can be used on Android and iOS devices and that doorstep services will be offered where required.
The announced targets are intended outputs for the coming campaign, not certificates already issued during it. The programme also envisages grievance support, health checks and identity-record updates. The 2,000-location figure refers to the combined city-and-district campaign network and should not be described as 2,000 separate administrative districts.
