A Nigerian federal information ministry report dated October 17 says groundbreaking ceremonies were held for solar mini-grid projects in Kaltungo and Kumo, in Gombe State. Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya said similar projects would also be established in Dukku and Bajoga. Power Minister Joseph Tegbe said the four communities are among interventions approved by the president.

Tegbe said the four communities were expected to receive round-the-clock electricity within six months, describing a future target rather than a completed result. Yahaya separately announced plans to extend mini-grid projects to another 62 communities across the state. The report gives no budget, procurement schedule or combined installed capacity for that proposed expansion.
