Innovate UK has awarded £525,000 to the University of Glasgow-led Robotics Training Centre Scotland. The three-year centre aims to build robotics skills for businesses in manufacturing, agriculture, healthcare, logistics and energy infrastructure.

The centre was announced on 9 October 2026 as one of 12 projects sharing £2.5 million from Innovate UK for robotics training and skills. It will be based at the University of Glasgow’s Intelligent Robotics Group, with Pomo Robotics as its industry partner.

Over the next three years, the centre plans short courses for engineers, technicians and managers, including hands-on work with real robotic systems. Its target sectors are manufacturing, agriculture, healthcare, logistics and energy infrastructure. The announcement concerns funding for a training centre; it does not report that robotics has already been widely adopted by businesses or quantify productivity gains.
