Galicia took part in the Helsinki launch meeting of AURORad, a European project focused on the quality and safety of medical procedures using ionising radiation. The Xunta’s health department participates through the Galician Health Service, the Galician Agency for Health Knowledge and public company Galaria.
The project runs from October 2026 to September 2031 and is coordinated by Finland’s Radiation and Nuclear Safety Authority. Its work includes clinical audits, justification of procedures, incident learning, dose management, image quality, paediatric and pregnancy imaging protection, image-guided radiotherapy and radiopharmaceutical therapy. The Xunta says its three participating bodies contribute to several work packages.
