OECD: G20 economies grew 0.7% in the second quarter

Aggregate growth slowed from the previous quarter, while country-level results varied.

G20 gross domestic product grew 0.7% quarter on quarter in the second quarter of 2026, down from 0.8% in the first quarter, according to the OECD’s provisional estimate released on 14 September. Output across the group was 3.1% higher than a year earlier.

National results did not follow one pattern. Saudi Arabia’s contraction deepened to 4.8% in the second quarter, mainly reflecting a sharp decline in oil activities, the OECD said. Growth in South Korea slowed from 1.8% to 0.6%, while China’s rate eased from 1.3% to 0.9%.

Türkiye’s quarterly growth accelerated from 0.3% to 1.1%; growth also slowed in India and Brazil. The G20 aggregate is weighted by the size of member economies and cannot describe each country’s experience on its own. The OECD identifies the second-quarter estimates as provisional.
