Euro area economy grows 0.6% in the second quarter

Eurostat estimates quarterly growth of 0.7% across the EU.

Seasonally adjusted GDP increased by 0.6% in the euro area and 0.7% in the EU in the second quarter of 2026 compared with the previous quarter, according to the 7 September estimate.

Annual growth was 1.2% in the euro area and 1.4% in the EU. Household consumption contributed 0.2 percentage points to quarterly growth in both areas; contributions and growth rates are different measures.
