The Syrian Petroleum Company began unloading about 63,784 metric tons of diesel from the Starling at the Baniyas terminal on October 19. A company official told SANA that it was the first shipment under an agreement with Saudi Aramco and a trial cargo intended to strengthen cooperation.

The official said the shipment followed the Central Bank’s processing of its first documentary credit for petroleum product imports. He said the channel could support broader cooperation; the report did not say how the cargo would be distributed domestically or that all of it had reached the market.
