First Atlantic Nickel & Cobalt said in a 13 October release that hole XL-26-18 was the first drilled in the Alloy Max South zone and contained visibly disseminated awaruite to about 35 metres below surface. Photomicrographs showed grains measuring up to 348 microns at 32 metres downhole. Company geologists described it as the best near-surface visible awaruite seen at Alloy Max, compared with deeper intervals.

The hole ended at about 40 metres in visible mineralization because the rig could not advance through broken, faulted rock; a follow-up hole was planned. Drilling spans about 2.4 kilometres along strike and more than 1 kilometre in width across Alloy Max. The release does not present visible grains as laboratory grade or an economic resource; the project has no established mineral resources or reserves.

Methodology

Drill holes span approximate strike distance and width reported for Alloy Max; these dimensions do not establish continuity or resource size. The table’s 1 km is the threshold in the source’s “more than 1 kilometre” statement, not an exact width or true vein thickness.
