Euro area inflation rose to 3.8% in September

Eurostat’s flash estimate put annual euro area inflation at 3.8% in September, up from 3.2% in August.

Energy had the highest annual rate among components, at 18.8%, compared with 14.3% in August. The rate was 3.2% for services and 1.4% for food, alcohol and tobacco.

This is a monthly flash estimate; Eurostat scheduled the full September HICP data for 16 October. The overall monthly price change was estimated at 0.6%. The annual rate compares the month with the same month a year earlier.
