The Ethiopian Statistics Service has published a population projection for July 2026 that estimates the country’s total population at 113,806,002. The 21-page tables break the projected totals down by sex and urban or rural residence, as well as by regions, zones and weredas.
The projection lists 57,013,002 males and 56,793,000 females. It places 28,110,001 people in urban areas and 85,696,001 in rural areas. These are projected figures, not the result of a new census or a direct count; the release page and PDF identify the reference month as July 2026.
