Working natural gas in underground storage across the Lower 48 states increased by 67 billion cubic feet in the week ended October 9, reaching 3,567 Bcf, the U.S. Energy Information Administration reported on October 15. Stocks had stood at 3,500 Bcf the previous week.

Inventories were 143 Bcf below the year-earlier level and 45 Bcf above the 2021–2025 five-year average; EIA said the total remained within the five-year historical range. Weekly estimates have sampling variability, and the report notes that regional components may not sum exactly to the total because of independent rounding.
